Kampala, Uganda – The Victoria University community witnessed a historic moment on Thursday, March 20, 2025, as the 8th Guild Government was officially sworn in. Khaukha Emmanuel, a third-year Bachelor of Pharmacy student, took the oath of office as the Guild President for the 2025/26 term. The ceremony, held at the university’s main auditorium, reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to student leadership, innovation, and governance.

The event was graced by distinguished university officials, student leaders, and representatives from various faculties. It marked a transition from the outgoing 7th Guild Government, led by former Guild President Emmanuel Kintu, whose administration was recognized for significant contributions toward student empowerment and advocacy.

In his farewell speech, Emmanuel Kintu highlighted key achievements of his tenure, including the integration of artificial intelligence in student engagement, advocacy for better academic policies, and the enhancement of student welfare programs.

“Serving as the Guild President has been an honor. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that student concerns are addressed, and I am confident that the incoming leadership will build on this foundation,” Kintu remarked.
Incoming Guild President Khaukha Emmanuel, in his inaugural speech, expressed gratitude to the student body for entrusting him with the responsibility of leadership. He outlined his vision for the term, emphasizing transparency, innovation, and student-centered governance.

“My government will focus on amplifying the student voice, enhancing academic and extracurricular activities, and strengthening our engagement with university management to ensure a progressive learning environment,” Khaukha stated.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Augustine Osamor Ifelebuegu, officiated the swearing-in ceremony. He underscored the importance of student leadership in shaping the university’s growth and urged the new guild government to uphold integrity and service excellence.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic handshake between the outgoing and incoming guild presidents, signifying a smooth transition of power. The 8th Guild Government now embarks on its mandate, ready to steer student leadership towards new milestones in the 2025/26 academic year.
