In a vibrant ceremony marked by youthful energy and visionary leadership, Victoria University yesterday hosted Uganda’s Ambassador to the United States, Her Excellency Robie Kakonge, at its main and annex campuses in Kampala.

The visit, themed “Unlocking Global Opportunities for Ugandan Youth”, showcased Victoria University’s state-of-the-art facilities and its commitment to producing globally competitive graduates. Ambassador Kakonge was warmly received by Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga, 8th Guild President Khaukha M.A. Emmanuel, senior academic staff, and a vibrant cohort of student innovators.
Among the highlights of the tour were:
- A demonstration of student-led AI projects at the Innovation Hub.
- A presentation by young entrepreneurs incubated under the university’s Startup Program.
- Visits to the Health Sciences Simulation Labs and Digital Learning Centers.
- An inspection of the new Annex Campus lecture spaces, designed to enhance student experiences.

Speaking during the interactive session, Ambassador Kakonge stressed the importance of exposing Ugandan students to global best practices, noting:
“Education must go beyond certificates. It must empower young people with skills, creativity, and global perspectives. Victoria University is doing just that.”
Dr. Lawrence Muganga elaborated on the University’s commitment to hands-on education, pointing to programs like the “Work-Study Program” and “VClass,” which allow students to learn, work, and innovate simultaneously.
Guild President Khaukha M.A. Emmanuel, representing the students, reiterated the youth’s readiness to take advantage of global opportunities:

“We are ready to dream big, work hard, and transform Uganda — and Victoria University gives us the platform to achieve this.”
Ambassador Kakonge pledged to facilitate linkages with American institutions and encourage diaspora engagement in supporting Victoria University’s growth agenda.

The visit concluded with a networking lunch, during which students and staff had informal discussions with the Ambassador about future possibilities.
