International Students Experience At Kampala Parent’s School
Kampala Parents’ School (KPS), an esteemed international school in Uganda, has been a beacon of quality education since its establishment in 1995. Located along Lugogo bypass, the school boasts an enrolment of over 2,500 pupils, including a significant number of international learners. With a dedicated team of 118 well-trained teachers and 150 non-teaching staff members, KPS continues to attract students from diverse backgrounds, including China, India, Japan, Nepal, Rwanda, Kenya, and Somalia. According to Esther Mulwana, the Deputy Principal and head of the admissions office, KPS has maintained its reputation as an academic hub in Uganda due to its balanced curriculum. “Our primary one, two, and three classes follow the thematic curriculum, integrating themes across all subjects, including Mathematics, English, and Literacy. Given our multinational student body, we have not adopted teaching in local languages,” explains Mulwana.
When it comes to enrolling international students, KPS employs a rigorous selection process.
“New students undergo oral interviews and tests in Mathematics and English. While our pass mark is 75%, we also consider the age and background of the child. Parents and visitors are always welcome to tour the school and its facilities,” says Mulwana.
Mulwana attributes the attraction of international learners to KPS’s mission: “To facilitate first-class education and civilization to children from within and outside Uganda, with the hope of fostering a better world community tomorrow.” This mission, coupled with the school’s modern facilities, draws hundreds of international students each year.

The school’s facilities include spacious classrooms, well-stocked libraries, computer rooms equipped with smart boards, a tailoring room, art rooms, a sick bay with a qualified nurse, an international standard swimming pool, and playfields for basketball, netball, and more. Additionally, KPS has a multipurpose hall, an amphitheatre for the infant section, and a day-care centre.
KPS also emphasizes the importance of co-curricular activities, offering games, sports, swimming, societies, and assemblies. “Co-curricular activities are essential as they keep the students engaged and focused, providing a holistic education that includes academic advancement and personal growth. Knowing the potential of earning a living through sports, we provide avenues for children to excel in these areas,” Mulwana notes
The school’s commitment to academic excellence is evident in the performance of its students. “Several parents have testified that their children’s academic performance remains exceptional in secondary schools. Our academic success is well-recognized globally, thanks to our talented staff who are adept at handling pupils,” says Mulwana.
KPS also prioritizes the well-being of its students by serving appetizing meals with a varied daily menu, including rice, matooke, sweet potatoes, beans, meat, and break tea with snacks
In summary, Kampala Parents’ School stands out as a premier institution that blends academic rigor with cultural diversity, offering a nurturing environment for both national and international students.
