Beyond being a tourist attraction, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) Information Center plays a critical role in building a new generation of conservationists.

The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)
The Center regularly hosts school outreach programs, welcoming thousands of students from across Uganda and East Africa every year. Workshops on topics such as biodiversity, climate change, poaching, and habitat destruction are tailored for different age groups, making environmental education accessible and engaging.

Interactive conservation challenges, like the “Wildlife Detective Game,” teach children how to recognize signs of illegal wildlife trade. Multimedia presentations showcase conservation champions, including Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, Uganda’s pioneering wildlife veterinarian and founder of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH).

Through collaborations with higher education institutions such as Makerere University and Victoria University Uganda, the Center also supports undergraduate research and internships in wildlife management and conservation education.
